Boarders Are Reopening
OH MY GOD, OKAY IT'S HAPPENING. EVERYBODY STAY CALM.
So, first things first, let's look at those all important dates:
On April 12th at 11:59pm, all Australian citizens, working holiday visa holders and students can enter New Zealand without quarantining.
On May 1st at 11:59pm, vaccinated travellers from visa waiver countries and visitor visa holders can enter NZ. This will be expanded over the following few months.
Exciting, right? It would be the first widespread opening since Covid closed the borders in March 2020. That means, at long last, that travellers from around the world will be able to start returning to New Zealand to discover and explore our amazing little country. At Dusky Lodge, we can't wait to start hosting folks again as they take the next step in their NZ adventure since a backpacker's hostel without that many backpackers has been, well, pretty quiet.
We also heard earlier this week from the Government regarding the updated guidance on Covid-19 controls. While we'll be continuing to sanitise the hostel on a daily basis, from Wednesday 6th April, we won't be requiring our guests to have a vaccination pass in order to stay with us. We'll keep you posted in case this changes at any point in the future, but for the time being, we're looking forward to welcoming everyone to stay with us.
